CHLA’s Halloween Greeting Card Campaign — Spooky and silly illustrations to help make Halloween fun for patients in the hospital

Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) launched its annual Halloween greeting card drive to help make Halloween fun for patients in the hospital. In 2024, I led the visual design effort, illustrating the greeting cards and producing custom animations, social media graphics, internal communications assets, and a dedicated campaign landing page. The campaign resulted in over 41,000 cards delivered to patients and more than $18,000 raised in donations!

Celebrating the magic of Los Angeles through playful illustrations

I drew inspiration from some of Los Angeles’ most iconic locations—Downtown, the Santa Monica Pier, and the Getty—to create illustrations that transported CHLA patients beyond the hospital walls and into the heart of the city.

Each animal featured in the illustrations were chosen to reflect the animal themes used on different floors in the hospital, helping to create a sense of connection and familiarity for the kids receiving the cards!

“The halloween cards are incredibly meaningful because it lets the kids know that people in the community are thinking of them.”
