Green Apple Books — Brand identity refresh concept for San Francisco’s most beloved bookstore.


Green Apple Books is an independent bookstore in San Francisco that offers books, music, and a magical experience for anyone seeking adventure within books. It is the best book store in the city (in my opinion). As a long time lover and adventurer of Green Apple Books, I wanted to give the brand an elevated and modern refresh while keeping the nostalgic and warm tone that they’re so known for.

This was a self-initiated project completed in March 2024.





Inspired by the classic green apple.


For this brand refresh, I used a serif typeface paired with a hint of crisp sans. Combined with a logomark inspired by the simplicity of the green apple, this allows the brand to feel light and timeless.






Balancing timelessness with nostalgia.


My goal was to make the brand feel timeless, nostalgic, and responsive across all digital and physical use cases. It should feel simple enough to clearly communicate the values of Green Apple Books, but still hold the core archetype that has been rooted in its community for over a century.
